Most of the seeds have germinated and I’m still in the process of potting up. All of the tomatoes that germinated have been potted up.
Leggy Tomatoes
This happened last year as well. The tomato plants were getting leggy and touching the lights. So, first thing I tried was cutting them back. They shot right up to the light. Urgh.
So I took the plants and removed half from each tray and put them into new trays. Less crowded and maybe able to each get some light. I brought all of them up to the dining room. I also put popsicle sticks in and tied them up. That was 2 weeks ago. They’ve done great. Not growing as fast, but the roots seem to really be taking off.
Grow Bags
I decided to try some new stuff/plants. I bought a bunch of grow bags in large sizes. All of the bags are on the patio and sitting on extra bricks.
- 3 bags of potatoes
- 1 bag of carrots (used seed tape)
- 1 bag of beets (used seed tape)
- 1 bag of onions (bottom layer of 10 white onions; top layer of red onions)
- 1 bag of bush beans
