Vegetable Garden Layout 2021

Lots of work today. I’m sooooo sore.

Started weeding and tilling the vegetable garden. I decided not to add compost and extra fertilizer this year. Well, I did add vegetable fertilizer with each plant, but that’s the norm when planting tomatoes. I planted 29 tomato plants. I’ll plant the peppers next weekend.

I did test the soaker hose and I need to change out a fitting at the hose connection. It’s leaking bad. Good thing it’s going to rain next week almost every day.

I checked the seed tapes that I planted on March 26. Looks like we’ll be getting some beets, carrots, and lettuce.

I also planted a garden bag with 4 tomatoes and put it on the patio surrounded by potato and onion grow bags. Hope nothing eats them, but if they do, maybe it’ll keep them away from the Vegetable Garden. The 4 tomato plants in the grow bag are: Clint Eastwood’s Rowdy Red; Blue Ridge Mountain; Giant Ox Heart; Hogs Heart.

At the end of this post is the garden layout and key for the Veggie Garden.

There are still plenty of plants left. A couple of them got “snapped” when I planted them so if they don’t take, I can replace. I may put them out front for sale tomorrow. I’m thinking about doing the pots. But I don’t have enough potting soil so I’d have to go get that.

Weeding

I also weeded the Shade Garden and put down the last of the pine needles for mulch. Then I weeded the Front Porch Garden. I trimmed the daffodils in both gardens and ripped up the lesser celandine as best as I could.

Next…

Tomorrow, if I can move, I want to weed the Oz Garden. I want to pull all of the lesser celandine that I can. Then I think I want to trim the daffodils and tulips and plant the petunias. I need to be careful – there are still a lot of bulbs coming up. I can’t remember where I planted everything. But the gladiolus are coming up and I’ll need more light for the petunias. It’s looking really nice right now.
